Hotel Princes Gate

There is 50 rooms in total at the hotel. Categories include standard, superior, suites and apartments. Please see the separate listing for the Superior rooms. All rooms are individually decorated. Some rooms have four-poster beds, other have their own fireplaces. All rooms include the usual amenities such as direct dial telephone, mini-bar, TV, Radio, Hair dryers and tea/coffee facilities. The rooms are spacious and historical in style. Nearly all bathrooms are shower and bathtub, there are a small number of rooms that are shower only. The Memories Restaurant is like a step back in time to the beginning of the 20th Century. Chandeliers and fine Kauri ceilings make the restaurant stand out in the city. Serving the finest New Zealand and international cuisine. An historical Wooden two storey colonial period building. A medium sized lobby decorated in classic style with a grand chandelier and stained glass windows. There are some armchairs and a small table in the lobby. A great centrally located historical hotel, originally built in1897 in the township of Waihi. The hotel was moved to Rotorua in 1921. Excellent refurbishment and high quality furnishings and service. The Princes Gate became the first private hotel in New Zealand and today is still a private hotel being owned and operated by the Marvelly's for the past 25 years. The hotel is renowned for its cabaret dinner shows and their High Tea. Excellent value.
